Sri Chinmoy is a musician of the inner world. He does not feel a separation between music and spirituality. Similarly he feels that art and spirituality can and must go together. Sri Chinmoy says that his art is a manifestation of the same spiritual source as his music. His inspiration is the Supreme, his inner pilot. Through painting in a meditative consciousness Sri Chinmoy is able to produce a prolific quantity of unique and soulful paintings. Each painting offering a vivid portrayal of light and spiritual life force. When painting Sri Chinmoy is an a meditative flow. There is no mental hesitation, he merely follows the inspiration of his artistic spontaneity.

Art can mean different things to different people, but in its purest form it is an expression of the Supreme's beauty.
Question: Is all art an expression of the Supreme’s Beauty?
Sri Chinmoy: Yes! All art, without fail, is an expression of the Supreme’s Beauty. Art is beauty and beauty is art. Art, beauty and joy are like three brothers. When Keats said, “A thing of beauty is a joy for ever,” he was so right because joy is beauty itself. Keats said something else which is also extremely important, “Beauty is truth, truth beauty.” Truth represents the Highest. When Beauty becomes one with Truth, naturally Beauty also becomes the Highest, which is none other than God. Art is God’s creation, God’s expression. When you think of art and God’s Beauty, you will see that they are like the obverse and reverse of the same coin: they are inseparable.
