Strange occurence:

In searching for "param pitare" or "param pitare hasiya kandiya" I do not find the song Param Pitare Hasiya Kandiya

If searching for "param pitare" I <i>do</i> get a link to a page, Songs about Jesus Christ which has the link to the song.

What's up with that?

Also, the search engine <i>definitely</i> needs a fuzzy-searching capacity... And possibly engineering to address the fact that spelling in Bengali is a difficult, and often uncertain business - especially for us non-native speakers :-)

So if the search engine could somehow recognise the "d" and "dh" (etc.) or "s" and "sh" can cause problems, the useability of this site would be infinitely improved :D

Check out the formatting on this page: Avatar. I don't know <i>what</i> has happened there...

Also, I have found a couple of songs like
this
where the lyrics have been entered on one line, causing the lyrics box to stretch out and adopt scrollbars... Not so pretty... Hard to find, unless you search the database for all entries over a certain number of characters, but containing no returns. But its just a small thing...

Search function:

Having "search within results" would be good. And some system of removing duplicated search results, perhaps?

Hey, a couple of suggestions.

When you search for a song and select one from the list, your search terms are highlighted on the song-page. Personally I find this annoying. It's ok for me, I just delete the string responsible from the URL and reload the page, but that's not so good for other people. If you want to retain the highlighting, what about making the song Title (e.g.
Sri Chinmoy's Songs → Song Library → Gan Likhi Ami Part 1 → <font color='red'>Hasi o kanna mama jibaner</font>) a link to itself (thus dropping the highlighting).

Also I don't know if the search function can incorporate fuzzy searching but that would be really good!! I find it's easy to spell bengali words wrong!

Um... What else... Oh yeah, perhaps if there were some way to "rig" the search results to prioritise common songs? Somehow? Perhaps by number of songbooks they appear in, although that may not help too much..

Also I spoke to Bhuvah about getting an account, and she said she would ask one of the girls to set it up for me today :-)

The centre has a scanner I can use, too :-)

Oh yeah another trivial thing - on the blog page, beside the post title, it would be good to have a "post comment" button, as well as a "view comment button" for those of us who are too impatient to wait for another page to load ;-)

This songbook asks for a login:

One Thousand Lotus Petals -- Part 2

Part 1 seems ok though :-)

Just wondering, why do some songs/songbooks have an asterisk beside them?

E.g. the Christ book, Khama Karo etc.?

I thought with the former that the asterisks were to indicate direct quotes, beside Khama Karo there also appears asterisks, so I guess it is a different usage??
